Jason Momoa wins lead role in ‘Conan’ remake
Jason Momoa has won the lead role in the Conan The Barbarian Lionsgate remake.The 6ft 5ins Hawaiian-born actor and model, beat out competition from Twilight’s Kellan Lutz, and Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki, who worked with Conan director Marcus Nispel recently on the Friday the 13th reboot.Momoa, 30, who plays baby daddy to girlfriend Lisa Bonet in real life, initially won over director Marcus Nispel but according to Deadline Hollywood, the filmmaker had to shoot a few trial scenes that allowed Momoa to wield a sword and behave very Schwarzenegger-like to impress the studio bosses. Filming will begin in Bulgaria on March 15, with an eye on a 2011 release.
Latino Review is reporting that Mickey Rourke has been offered the part of Conan’s father Corin.
