Adam Richman, host of "Man v. Food" on the Travel Channel, did it.

He ate the 48-ounce porterhouse steak at Shula's Steakhouse on Miami Beach in less than 20 minutes. We first told you about Richman's challenge in a story earlier this week.

Close to 80,000 people have taken the 48-ounce challenge. Fewer than half have succeeded.

And Richman is the first to take on eating this monster in less than 20 minutes. He did it live Wednesday night during a two-hour TV special with 3 minutes and 23 seconds to spare.

Richman - wearing a T-shirt that said "I still call it Joe Robbie" - was cheered on by a rowdy crowd that included several pro football players and random people dressed as hot dogs and pizza slices.

Richman routinely takes on eating challenges acros the country and entered this Miami Beach challenge with a record of 24 wins and 14 losses. He now has 25 wins.

He called the Shula steak the "top tier" of eating challenges.
