Friday night is a cool night for space lovers! The moon will be bigger and brighter tonight than on any other night of 2010, say astronomers.
According to space.com, the Moon’s orbit is not a perfect circle. One side of the orbit is 31,070 miles closer than the other. Friday night’s full moon will coincide with the moon’s closest point to Earth (called a perigee). In other words, Friday night will be the biggest full moon of 2010.
It might be the perfect night to bundle-up and go for a nice walk with your kids and honey. I can’t wait to stare in awe at tonight’s moon!
